After Sawyer Petrick graduated from The New School with a bachelor’s degree in media studies with a concentration in screenwriting, he joined Whole Picture Films as a writer. A resident of New York City, Sawyer Petrick is an avid fan of the New York Giants, a professional football team that competes in the National Football League.
The Giants have fortified their coaching staff by adding three new assistant coaches. The team announced the hiring of Russ Callaway, Ryan Anderson and Carter Blount on April 8, 2021. They will help Giants head coach Joe Judge heading to the start of the 2021 NFL season opener in September.
Callaway will work with the Giants as offensive quality control coach. He started his coaching career working under Judge in 2011 as a defensive analyst at Alabama. He went on to spend two years with Murray State as recruiting coordinator and wide receivers coach. Callaway also served as offensive coordinator for Samford University in Birmingham for five seasons, up until 2019. He was the senior offensive analyst with the LSU Tigers during the 2020 season before joining the Giants.
Anderson is the Giants’ new defensive quality control coach. He served as Vanderbilt’s defensive assistant from 2013 to 2015. He spent the next two years working as inside linebacker’s coach for East Carolina. In 2018, Anderson became the defensive coordinator of Hampton University before he joined Elon College in 2019 as safeties coach.
Blount will work alongside Anderson as defensive quality control coach. He also worked under Judge at Alabama as a special teams analyst in 2009. He was the special teams quality control analyst at University of Tennessee under then head coach Jeremy Pruitt, who is currently the Giants’ senior defensive assistant.
